AN AMAZING COMMUNITY ART CREATION INSPIRED BY PAMELA IRVING - 2011

The full mural of 150 square metres features 550 individual mosaic creations and took more than 18 months to complete. The masterpiece was created by students, hobbyists and professional mosaic artists from the local and international community.

The mosaics cover the walls of the Patterson railway station underpass and won the 2012  ‘Community Action’ category in the Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Sustainable Cities and Clean Beaches Awards.

The project was led by local artist and mosaic expert, Pamela Irving, whose goal was to engage the community in making an artwork which would reduce graffiti, recycle unwanted tiles and beautify the dull underpass environment.
